Paihia School Values

Paihia School Values!

Team work
Doing your best
Resilience
Respect

We started the term by weaving a class waka (thanks Patience KH!)

We put ourselves in the waka. We spent a lot of time discussing the values - what they mean to us and how we can show them. Here is what we came up with....
  • The dictionary says that something of value is something’ important or useful’.  We think values can be described as qualities or attitudes that people have that are important and useful.
  • We have values to help us get along with, and look after each other and the wider world.

Respect
If you respect someone you admire them and like them.
Some of the ways we can do this is:
ü     By caring for people, living things and property.
ü     Using our manners.
ü     Treating others with consideration.

Resilience
Resilience means having the ability to bounce back and the motivation to move forward.
Some of the ways we can do this is by:
ü     Trying hard and never giving up
ü     Keep climbing the mountain.
ü     Keep pushing forward and finish the race.

Doing your best
We think doing your best means to work hard, try hard and believe in yourself.
ü     If you are doing your best you don’t give up.
ü     If you are doing your best you will achieve a goal.
ü     If you are doing your best you will complete a task.
ü     If you are doing your best you will try something new.

Team work
Team work means working together as a team.
We can do this by:
ü     Cooperating,
ü     Helping each other,
ü     Sharing and caring,
ü     Working, talking and playing with different people.

We shared our ideas with the school at our assembly.
